Creating Woodlands within the Community
About Daviot Community Trust
Company No: SC347285
Charity No: SC041081
Daviot Community Trust was incorporated in 2009 and was established to take community ownership of approx 22 acres of land/ woodland in terms of a Section 75 Agreement between Edinmore Developments Ltd and Aberdeenshire Council.
Following a professional feasibility study by a Business Consultant and a “Woodland Options” survey by a Chartered Forester, many of the recommendations in the reports have been executed, mainly by village volunteers, led by the directors. The main achievements have been the creation of an extensive path network which received a Paths for All national award, planting of 600+ trees, supplied by Woodland Trust and a number of other improvements to the land and woodland to improve the bio-diversity and accessibility for all to enjoy either recreationally or educationally.

Daviot Community Trust has been generously supported by John Schneider since we took possession of the land gifted to the village by Edinmore under the Section 75 Agreement with the Council. John has supported the Trust by allowing the Trust the use of his tractor and JCB to carry out the work which is often beyond the scope of hand tools. However, the Trust now have the opportunity to purchase their own equipment which will ensure that the Trust has the necessary tools for the job for many years to come.
Our application to the JTPB Fund has been selected to go forward into the public vote. This will decide which projects receive funding this year. Following the link www.jtpbfund.scot/vote will take you to the voting page where you can read about all the projects currently applying for funding. You must vote for 5 projects then submit. All we ask is that you make Daviot Community Trust one of your Votes! Everyone over the age of 5 is eligible to vote so please make it a family effort. !!Every Vote is important to us and every vote Counts!!
Glack Path
Many Thanks to Corra (ww.corra.scot) for providing the funding for this project.
Thank you to all those who have volunteered over the past season - despite the various restrictions which have been in place a lot has been achieved and the completion of the path behind The House of Glack yesterday seems to be an appropriate time to call a halt to the Saturday work parties.
Having said that there will be odd jobs needing done over the winter months and it would be appreciated if you could let me know whether or not you would be able to lend a hand.
Not only has the work done by the DCT volunteers been much appreciated but the transformation of the Ram House area by the Davit Lads and Lasses has been very much admired so a ‘well done’ to them - unfortunately I don’t have email addresses for all of them so perhaps some of you could pass on our thanks to any you know who are not on the above list. Lastly, but by no means least, thanks are also due to Norman Masson Snr and Shaun Simpson for their help and to Elias Bate for his cooperation in letting the Trust complete the path behind his house.
Hope you all keep safe and healthy over the winter and have time to consider what improvements could be done on the DCT property next season - any thoughts would be welcome!

Chestnut Walk
Chestnut Walk will be a new development for 2019. We have already cleared all the undergrowth from the route but will need a lot of drainage work before we can start the work of building the path. Hopefully if we can gain funding for the project it will become part of the path network later this year.
Daviot Biathlon
The Biathlon was part of the Daviot Gala events. Open to Children Teens and adults, Competitors cycled a track laid out around the paths and grounds of the Community Trust, and for Adults a run following the paths around both Daviot Village and Daviot Estate. Great fun was had by all. It's set to be a regular event so get ready for 2019!

Daviot Water Park!
This Year we've been tidying the area around the burn and pump house. Having addressed some of the water flow issues, our future plans are to make this area much more of a feature, with perhaps a larger pond, planting, seating and maybe even a deck.
