Dear Members
Daviot Community Trust was due to hold it’s AGM in April, however, following Nicola Sturgeon’s various announcements, it looks as though it could be May / June before we are able to hold an open meeting in the Hall or Annex. We will inform you as soon as we are able to set a suitable date.
Should members have any questions or suggestions for the Board, or if you think you can help us and would like to be considered for election to a position on the board of directors, please let me know before May 31st. We are currently also looking for a secretary following the resignation of Alana Watson who has served the Trust, and the Steering Group before that, for many years. Many Thanks Alana…
Membership details have not been verified for some time and, as numbers have an impact on potential grant applications, it would be appreciated if you could please confirm the contact details of all members in your household by replying to this email as soon as possible. Should you know of anyone who you think is a member but have recently changed their email address, please ask them to pass on their new details to the Trust Secretary - thank you.
Work parties have already started up again this year, and volunteers have been maintaining all the 600+ trees that have been planted, along with establishing more mature trees donated by Kirkdale Garden Centre. Work has also started on the repairs to Chestnut Walk, again! A new drain has been installed and the surface is now in the process of being repaired. Repairs to the end of Bennachie Walk are on-going, where the section meeting the road is to be replaced with a concrete surface to prevent the path being washed onto the road during heavy rainfall.
If you would like to help with the on-going maintenance, please forward your details - all welcome!!
The renovation of the Ram House area is being undertaken by those involved in the Chris Smith Daviot Memorial team, with volunteers from the Trust assisting in this fitting and poignant tribute to a local lad whose life was so tragically cut short.
The COVID related restrictions have curtailed quite a lot of work being done but what has been achieved by the Trust over the years has proved to have been a great asset to all those who have made use of it for their exercise during the last 15 months.
Thank you for your continued support.
